Maria H. Gross is an attorney licensed to practice law in New York and New Mexico and a Principal with Risk Strategies International, LLC, a multi-faceted consulting firm assisting clients with resolving specialized risk-related issues. She has diverse legal, administrative and management experience in the public, private and corporate sectors.
Her experience in New York City encompassed legal practice at a major international insurance company, at a major real estate law firm, at a patent and trademarks law firm, and at a boutique securities law firm, conducting all phases of corporate securites law matters. Her background also includes several years of private practice in which she drafted and negotiated complex contracts and agreements; provided legal advice for private international investigations and information security consulting firms; conducted real estate transactions in New York and mediated complex cases prior to and during litigation.
Ms. Gross was a law clerk for a Federal Bankruptcy Judge for whom she drafted several legal opinions. At the Surrogate's Court in New York City, her legal opinion was published while interning as a law clerk.
Ms. Gross was certified in Alternative Dispute Resolution by the University of New Mexico School of Law, and handled disputes for the Metropolitan Court System; She has drafted legal briefs and settlement agreements; conducted negotiations; prepared cases for trial involving civil rights, personal injury and domestic relations matters. She has served as a Special District Attorney, and has volunteered for Junior Achievement; was a Scoring Judge for the New Mexico and the National Mock Trial Competitions; assisted with the New Mexico Domestic Violence Legal Hot Line; was a Mentor and Lecturer for the Committed Partners for Youth; was a counselor with the Albuquerque Youth At Risk Program and volunteered her legal services to assist the Albuquerque Rescue Mission.
Her business experience involves executive level administrative matters including coordinating and organizing projects with teams of co-workers. Most recently, she served as Assistant Executive Director of the Broward County Management & Efficiency Study Committee, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Ms. Gross received her Juris Doctorate from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, YeshivaUniversity in 1979. She is a member of the New York State Bar, admitted to practice before the New York Supreme Court; U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York. She is also a member of the New Mexico State Bar and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the New Mexico Supreme Court.
